"Some people hear their own inner voices with great clearness. And they live by what they hear. Such people become crazy...or they become legend." Jim Harrison, Poet/Author

The Vision Quest

The Vision Quest is a rite of passage or ceremony that has existed in some shape or form in nearly every culture around the world. For thousands of years it has thrived because it works and it works profoundly and powerfully.

The Vision Quest is an opportunity to sink into the depths of our heart and mind and intentionally bring about healing.  In the tradition passed down to us, questers are spending 4 days and 4 nights in solitude.  Cradled in the beauty of nature we begin to find our true self.  Our heart grows still and silent and we begin to hear the faint calls of our spirit.  A subtle yet profound shift occurs as we move closer to the Creator.  We know who we are and who we are not.  The Vision Quest is 4 days and 4 nights spent alone, with the Creator.

It is an experience that is unique to each person and difficult to put into words. For most, a person's Vision Quest becomes a marker in their lives that distinguishes from a false self to a true self.  Click here for dates and location.

What To Expect

Questers arrive a day and half before the Vision Quest begins. The second day is spent preparing and supporting the questers for the Vision Quest, so that everyone is ready for this life-changing event. Before sunrise of the next day, the Questers go to their Quest area and begin their Vision Quest. They remain there for the next 4 days and 4 nights. They do not have any contact with the other questers at this time nor do they have contact with those running the Vision Quest. The guides are there to provide security and protection from outside interruptions.

Questers fast for 4 days and 4 nights with the exception of drinking water. The idea is to eliminate all distractions. As a result; the Questers are not cooking, building fires, building shelters, talking on their phones, texting, playing video games, or watching TV. This is an opportunity to step away from life's distractions, grow silent, and listen to the subtle yet profound voice of our soul.

What results from this can be very astounding and therapeutic. My mentor referred to it as "like taking a sledge hammer to your problems." I've also heard people describe it as an opportunity to chat with God. However, you want to describe it, the Vision Quest meets each person exactly where they are at in life in a very specific and powerful way.

The Vision Quest is free from all dogma and religious affiliation. People from their teens to their 80's are welcome to Quest. If you have dietary or medical concerns, please feel free to contact us to discuss your options.

On the 5th morning at sunrise the Questers return to camp. This day is spent debriefing, journaling, and slowly restoring one's appetite. The following day the Questers pack up their gear and return home. This results in 8 days including the arrival and departure day.

You will need camping gear for before and after your quest. However, camping experience or wilderness survival experience is not required or necessary. We will be providing the meals before and after your Vision Quest. We will also be providing the drinking water. A full gear list will be sent out with your acceptance letter.
